Прблема такого рода:

Приобрел моник ASUS MW221C 22' , видеокарта GeForce 7600 GS, подключение через VGA; в винде все настроилось путем - разрешение 1680х1050@60Hz/

Раньше был обычный монитор, расширение стояло 1152х768@75Hz/

В Debian 4.0 ни в какую не хочет сохранять измененное разрешение (само разрешение меняется вполне нормально, но при перезагрузке Х-ксов не сохраняется), причем как через утилиту настройки Nvidia Settings, так и через стандартные средства. Драйвер стоит 169.12, но пробовал ставить и 173.14.05./

Причем все окна в Debian немного заползают за верхний край монитора, пробовал подрубить через DVI, все вписывалось в пределы, но разрешение ни в какую не хочет сохраняться. В какую сторону смотреть? Причем разрешение стоит (осталось), с того старого моника и что интересно, при загрузке логотип Nvidia перестал появляться, хотя раньше он был, но судя по логу дрова грузятся [sm=bn.gif]
Пробовал настраивать через TwinView - такая же история, хотя появлялся логотип при загрузке….
Короче запутался…

и будет у тебя монитор 1680х1050
если у тебя их два то надо сделать по другому.

Пробовал ставить 1600х1200, он его проглатывает, но разрешение один черт 1152х768 :@ От куда он его берет? В конфиге ни строчки про него.

объясняю "1680x1050" твой экран 60.0 частота 60гц 1680 1280 1309… первое выбираемое разрешение и т.д.

Ну не нужно меня вообще списывать за глупого. Все что там написано, я вполне отчетливо понимаю, но проблема в том что данный ModeLine не подходит, а поскольку gtf в пакетах Debian не обнаружен, вопрос по подсчету ModeLine остается открытым.

Я специально привел лог того что иксы ругаются на строку "1680x1050" 60.0 1680 1280 1309 1460 1636 1050 854 857 864 896 +hsync +vsync

PS если у кого-то имеется данная утилита прошу набрать в консоли:

Да поставил я videogen, но что-то она мне не больно нравится и синтаксис мне не совсем понятен. Просто вопрос действительно интересный: если в конфиге не прописано разрешение 1152х768, от куда берется данное разрешение? Причем оно устанавливается по дефолту как при загрузке драйвера Nvidia, та и просто nv/ В данный момент конфиг я переписал полностью

монитор подрубил через DVI, но все равно проблема осталась, менял nvidia на nv не катит….

to Wlada/ Интересно конечно…т.е. предлагаешь не прописывать моды? Хм, ну попробовать можно, только Debian ведь не Slax, черт его знает как он себя поведет.

Я думаю что установка эта из-за строчек:
identifier "Videocard0"
boardname "NVIDIA GeForce 7 Series"

У меня в Slax указано расширение не монитора, а видеокарты; а фриша сослалась на расширение монитора в мм под видеокартой.

кстати строка gamma 1.0 ? зачем вообще там? (у меня её нет)

Я ничего не предлагаю, я просто показала свои, то что есть. У меня ЖК-панель 1280х800 тоже ноут.
Debian не Slax согласна, но слакс устанавливаеться каждый раз LiveCD экран автоматически и всё норма.
А во Фрише (тем более не линукс) так монитор вообще почему-то при установке сам установился в мм, я их не один не меняла работает зачем трогать? Но во фрише смотрела обязательно, хотела поменять, но потом передумала.

А ещё меня интересует а где у тебя строчки:

Но насколько я помню, разрешение я менял не с помощью NVidia X settings, а в панели управления и выставлялось любое. Ну и соответственно вопрос:
при установке драйвера NVidia значения частоты и разрешения различны между NVidia X settings, которая устанавливается с дровами и в панели управления в секции монитор (ну не важно …смотря какая ось), т.е. штатная утилита. Так вот кому верить-то и чем пользоваться?

убирай/комментируй из/в xorg.conf все значения, которые тебе не нужны.

Верить тому, где ты устанавливаешь настройки. Если настраиваешь видео в xorg.conf, то делай ВСЕ настройки через xserver, вплоть до переключения языка ввода- таким образом ты хоть знать будешь, где возникает проблема.

И после этого всего ты спрашиваешь откуда такое разрешения моритора 1152х768?
удаляй или закрой (#) все и допиши строчку ModeLine "1680x1050@60" и т.д.

Дело в том,что в секции Монитор стоит

Identifier "Универсальный монитор"
VendorName "Generic"
ModelName "1280x1024 @ 74 Hz"

т.е. 1280x1024 @ 74 Hz это максимально возможное, если же выставить 1680x1050@60 ( которого даже нет в списке поддерживаемых моделайнов) иксы просто не грузятся, посмотри на самый первый пост, я убрал все моделайны, монитор определился как ему и положено, в конфиге ни строки про 1152х768 однако данное разрешение выставляется и причем я заметил, что его выставляет nvidia-auto-select, выходит что драйвера не подходят, также при dpkg-reconfigure xserver видеокарта не обнаруживается и в списке драйверов не присутствует nvidia. vesa - напрочь вешает иксы даже без возможности выйти в консоль, при установке драйвера как nv список модов получается как в моем предыдущем конфиге, т.е. 1680х1050 напрочь рубится.
